Eco-tourism: Rambling
Zaynthos was described by the Venetians as ‘Fioro di Levante’ or flower of the east, and in ancient times by Homer as ‘Yliessa’ which means ‘forest land’
The island has a rich ecosystem, which makes it an ideal place for nature lovers. Those who wish to explore its natural beauty can do so step by step, discovering the many types of wildlife that inhabit the land and coastline. You could spend months exploring the vast countryside discovering something new every day.
The island has a variety of natural beauty spots, bays, capes, small islets, dozens of sandy beaches and crystal blue waters. There are steep gorges and ravines, rivers and small streams, alongside concealed rocks and cliffs with their own majestic beauty.
You can see areas of mountainous wilderness but also vast acres of thick pine forests with a variety of shrubs, bushes and herbs growing wild on the slopes and in the valleys.
Programme
- We can offer you a selection of different walks, either in the mountains, the olive groves, the coastline sandbanks or a walk on the wild side of the uninhabited and untamed parts of the island.
