DELPHI

The enchantment of the wild landscape and imposing sheer mountains, combined with the sacredness and majesty of the ancient monuments captivate every visitor. Delphi is built on the slopes of Mt Parnassos at a height of approx 550m. An area endowed by nature and the greatness of the human spirit.

Sacred Delphi was a religious center that was known throughout the ancient world. The ancients believed that Delphi was the center of the earth. According to Greek Mythology, when Zeus wanted find the center of the earth he released two eagles, one on each side of the earth, the sacred birds met at Delphi. Among the monuments and temples of Delphi were the Oracle and the Temple of Apollo, which was created by Apollo himself after he killed the mythical snake ‘python’ that guarded the area. The visions of Pythia were known by all, although difficult to understand, they always proved to be true for the ancient Greeks.

The visitor to Delphi can admire the rare monuments, the sacred temples of the Gods, the ancient theatre, the stadium where the games took place, and the museum with unique archaeological finds.

On the return from Delphi, we can see the picturesque city of Nafpaktos with its rich history, the beautiful harbour and the Byzantine castle. The visit to Nafpaktos will give a pleasant epilogue to our excursion.
